Jude Bellingham Grabs the Winner against Serbia
England Defeat Serbia 1-0 to Top Group C
England kicked off their Euro 2024 campaign in style, securing a hard-fought 1-0 victory over Serbia in their opening Group C match. The Three Lions dominated possession but had to rely on a moment of brilliance from Jude Bellingham to secure the three points at the Rajko Mitic Stadium in Belgrade.
Bellingham, starting in place of the injured Mason Mount, scored the game's only goal in the 30th minute. The Borussia Dortmund midfielder received a pass from Bukayo Saka on the edge of the area and drove the ball into the bottom corner with a clinical finish.
Despite England's dominance, Serbia had their chances. Aleksandar Mitrovic wasted a glorious opportunity to equalize in the second half, while Sergej Milinkovic-Savic saw a shot cannon off the post. However, the English defense, marshaled by Harry Maguire and John Stones, held firm to preserve their narrow lead.
The win puts England in a strong position at the top of Group C, which also includes Hungary and Croatia. Gareth Southgate's team will now face Scotland in their second group match on June 20th, while Serbia will take on Hungary.
